This is the biggest
campground (179 sites) in the Park, and the only one with showers (at
the camper store).
Manzanita Lake is very
pretty. There is the Loomis Museum, and the Camper
Store within convenient walking distance. The best
hiking trails are a fairly long drive from here, however.
The campground has small
sites, and may feel cramped and crowded. The air can
be polluted with campfire smoke on still mornings in summer.
Manzanita Lake has more of an urban feel which is comforting
to many, but more outdoorsy people may prefer a backcountry
campsite, or one of the smaller campgrounds.
Note: Loops A & C are
reservable; Loops B & D are first-come, first served.
